One of the World's Greatest Art Galleries

This is one of the principal art galleries in Britain and among the most important in the world. It was opened in 1838.

The gallery was designed by William Wilkins.

The National Gallery has over 2000 works representing the principal schools of European painting from the 13th century to 20th century. Here you can see such masterpieces as Leonardo da Vinci's Virgin and Child with St. Anne cartoon, Van Eyck's Arnolfini Marriage, or Van Dyck's Equestrian Portrait of Charles I.

The collection is arranged chronologically, so that you can compare works of the same period from different countries.
